Message Link Lens for Slack Privacy Policy

Message Link Lens for Slack has one purpose: after an explicit toolbar click, reveal and copy the exact destinations of external links already present in visible Slack web messages.

Data processed

While the lens is active, the extension reads the visible label and destination URL of links in Slack message content. Slack messages are personal communications and website content. This information is used only to render destination-domain badges in the current tab, compare a visible domain with the actual destination when one is present, and provide the exact URL requested by the user.

Storage, transmission, and sharing

All processing occurs locally in the active browser tab. Message Link Lens does not collect, transmit, sell, share, or retain message content or link destinations. It has no developer-operated server, analytics, advertising, account system, OAuth integration, network requests, or remote code.

Clipboard

The extension writes one exact link destination to the operating system clipboard only after the user explicitly clicks that destination's badge. It never reads clipboard contents.

Site access

The extension uses activeTab and scripting, so access is temporary and begins only after the user clicks the toolbar icon. Before injecting its packaged code, it verifies that the active page is hosted at app.slack.com; it refuses other sites. No persistent host permission is requested.

Retention and deletion

The extension maintains no database, local history, or stored settings. Link information and rendered badges remain only in the current page while the lens is active. Clicking the toolbar icon again removes the badges and stops observation. Closing or navigating the tab also discards the temporary state.

Security interpretation

A warning-colored badge means only that a domain visible in the link label differs from the link destination. The extension does not visit, resolve, scan, or rate links and does not claim that a destination is safe or unsafe.

Changes

If a future version changes how data is processed, this policy and the Chrome Web Store disclosures will be updated before that version is distributed.
