Thread Context Link for Reddit Privacy Policy

Thread Context Link for Reddit has one purpose: after an explicit toolbar click, copy a selected Reddit comment's ordinary permalink with Reddit's native parent-context parameter.

Data processed

When the user activates the extension and selects a Reddit comment, the extension processes the active Reddit page URL and the selected comment's existing permalink or identifier. These values are website content and browsing activity. They are used only to construct the requested parent-aware Reddit URL in the current browser tab.

The extension does not read or copy the comment's text, author, votes, account identity, cookies, or login state.

Storage, transmission, and sharing

All processing occurs locally in the active browser tab. Thread Context Link does not collect, transmit, sell, share, or retain page URLs, comment identifiers, comment content, or the resulting link. It has no developer-operated server, analytics, advertising, account system, OAuth integration, network requests, or remote code.

Clipboard

The extension writes one generated Reddit context URL to the operating system clipboard only after the user explicitly selects a comment. It never reads clipboard contents.

Site access

The extension uses activeTab and scripting, so access is temporary and begins only after the user clicks the toolbar icon. Before injecting its packaged code, it verifies that the active page uses HTTPS and is hosted at reddit.com or one of its subdomains. It refuses other and lookalike domains. No persistent host permission is requested.

Retention and deletion

The extension maintains no database, local history, or stored settings. The selected comment metadata exists only in page memory while the action is being completed. Choosing a comment, pressing Esc, closing the tab, or navigating the page removes the temporary selection interface and discards that state.

Third-party service

The generated link points directly to Reddit and uses Reddit's native context URL parameter. The extension does not redirect the recipient through a developer-controlled service. Reddit's own privacy practices apply when a user or recipient visits Reddit.

Changes

If a future version changes how data is processed, this policy and Chrome Web Store disclosures will be updated before that version is distributed.
